Intimate, carnal relationships impact two willing partners in an intense and life-altering way that has long-term consequences upon both individuals involved. These influences can sometimes go unrecognized or overlooked amongst daily customs, thoughts, or conversations. This alteration of the “self” should be acknowledged in order to further impact this study anthropologically, socially, psychologically or culturally in correlation with artistic means. Awareness of such is the purpose here. The “other” poses as the artist’s partner within a relationship; using the self is entirely intentional and necessary since working from personal experience. The dark paint signifies the amount of influence within that relationship, some more than others; the skin shows the void of influence. The “interior landscapes” within the realm of the home emit calculated still-life arrangements in order to magnify the message presented in relation to the individuals and tell a story through their environment. The privacy of the interior setting consists exclusively of the two figures, where the public is not interfering; the home is necessary, as it is where the most amount of seclusion takes place between the two. These autobiographical stills are staged in order to revisit individual memories; it is not a production, but a reenactment. While necessary qualities of each image would be lost through pure documentation, staging emphasizes intentional elements such as dramatic angles and intensifying colors within the composition... Hotels act as an escape from the comfort of “home” and stimulate inner anxieties within the secluded environment. The location acts as a metaphor, yielding itself to a diverse and constantly changing clientele, which corresponds with the multiple dimensions experienced through the “self” that is being presented. where I shot a still-life series in an empty pool. These items represent "found objects" that were discovered after the apocalypse. The intense light illustrates the aftermath that global warming had on the Earth over time. The intentional duality of the objects create a tension between the two ideas they represent and provide hints at why the world ended.
